Sea Skiff
Built by Chris-Craft
A lapstrake mahogany utility built by Chris-Craft from 1949 to 1970, and the plainer half of what that company made. While the Holiday and the Riviera were varnished showpieces, the Sea Skiff line was built lapstrake, painted, and sold to people who were going fishing.
That makes it the better first restoration of the two. The planking is thicker and more forgiving than a bright-finished hull, paint hides a repair that varnish would advertise, and nobody will mind if the result is a working boat. The usual areas are the keel and garboard, the frames at the turn of the bilge, and the transom. The engine is usually a small block that somebody can still get parts for.
What building a Sea Skiff actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
