Swift

Built by Penn Yan

A lapstrake outboard boat from Penn Yan Boats of Penn Yan, New York, built through the 1950s and 1960s. Penn Yan had a good name for light, well-built lapstrake hulls, and they are a step less heavy than the equivalent Lyman.

Like any lapstrake boat of the period the work is in the fastenings and the plank lands, and in a transom that has carried an outboard for sixty years. They were built in smaller numbers than the Lymans and Chris-Crafts, so parts and trim are harder to find and a complete original boat is worth more than its condition alone suggests.
