The catboat carries a single gaff sail on a mast stepped far forward, and its wide, shallow form was developed on Cape Cod for inshore fishing in shallow tidal water. Later boats were used for racing and pleasure sailing.

The Bluejacket kit (KLW105) is a 3/4 inch scale plank on bulkhead model with laser-cut basswood and mahogany parts.
