Model boat kit
Indian Girl Canoe
Kit by Midwest
The Indian Girl was a wood and canvas canoe designed by J. H. Rushton of Canton, New York for the growing pleasure paddling market of the early 1900s. Rushton was already known for his light lapstrake canoes, and the canvas covered Indian Girl became one of his best selling models.
The 1:12 kit (No. 981) uses strip plank construction with laser cut basswood to introduce beginners to that method. The finished model is about 16 in long and can be built without prior experience.
What building a Indian Girl Canoe actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
