12½ Footer
Built by Herreshoff
Nathanael Herreshoff drew her in 1914 as a boat children could learn in on Buzzards Bay, and she is probably the most loved small keelboat ever built. Full keel, gaff rig, and far more able than twelve and a half feet of waterline suggests. Wooden ones are restored continuously and fiberglass copies have been built for decades.
What building a 12½ Footer actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.

If you are building one, yours becomes the reference: the page the next person building this boat finds when they search for it. One photo and one line is a valid first entry.
