Production model

Venture 24

Built by MacGregor

A 24 ft 7 in fractional sloop designed by Roger MacGregor, built from 1969 to 1971. She carries 7 ft 11 in beam, 4 ft 6 in draft and 2,100 lb displacement. Hull form is swing keel.

Narrow and short enough to trailer behind an ordinary vehicle without a permit, which is most of the appeal of a boat this size. MacGregor built light, cheap, trailerable sailboats in California for forty years, and sold more trailerable sailboats than anyone. Build quality is modest and the value for money was extraordinary. The figures below come from owners who logged work on this boat here.
