Pontoon Kit
Designed by Build-A-Boat
Build-A-Boat is the kit arm of TechniKal, a Quebec builder of custom aluminum boats, and sells pontoon kits and loose pontoon tubes from its factory in Grand-Mere. The tubes are 5052 H32 marine aluminum with full length side and under keels, sealed chambers every 5 ft, one piece risers, front deflectors and rear mounting brackets. A kit adds U bar cross members, corners, 3 in edging, a motor support, a towing bar, stainless fasteners and an assembly manual.
The platform can become whatever the owner wants: a recreational pontoon, a houseboat, a work or transport boat, or an electric boat. Sizes are quoted to order rather than listed. The company's own example is a kit on 19 in tubes and 16 ft long, which two people assemble in about four hours with ordinary tools such as a drill, ratchet, rivet gun, saw and tape measure. Decking, seating and fittings come from other suppliers.
What building a Pontoon Kit actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
