Honker H.B. 20
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 20 ft 1 in trailerable houseboat by Sam Devlin that puts the shanty boat interior of his Millie Hill 20 into a lengthened and widened Honker 18 hull, built stitch and glue. It was drawn for a couple planning sections of the Great Loop. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, draft 12.5 in, displacement 2,982 lb and trailering weight 2,100 lb. It has 6 ft 3 in headroom, a galley, enclosed head and convertible dinette. A 60 hp high-thrust outboard suits displacement speeds, and 115 hp gives about 20 knots.
Only downloadable study plans are listed so far. The hull is simple but the cabin is a full interior. As a rule of thumb, budget 1,000 to 1,800 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Honker H.B. 20 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
