A 57 ft radius chine cutter by Dudley Dix for fast cruising or crewed charter, detailed in all steel, steel hull with aluminum deck, or all aluminum. Two layouts are drawn, the Charter with three en-suite guest doubles and a crew cabin, and the Cruisemaster with a large aft owner's cabin. Both have an aft working cockpit and a separate centre cockpit. About 25,700 kg in steel and alloy, 90 hp diesel, with wing, fin or bilge keel options and steel cutting files available.
Radius chine plating avoids compound curves, but a yacht this size needs welding skill, lifting gear and a long commitment. As a rule of thumb, expect 10,000 hours or more for a self-build. Real hours from logged builds are below.
