Lodestar
Designed by Glen-L Marine
A 55 ft all-steel cruising ketch from Glen-L Marine, hull, keel, deck and cabin welded, multi-chined but softened into rounder lines, with a separate keel and skeg-hung rudder and a centerboard option for shoal draft. Three double staterooms each with its own head, a utility forepeak, a big galley and a raised dinette; about 75 hp diesel.
A yard-scale steel project. Expect 10,000 hours or more. Real hours from logged builds show below.
What building a Lodestar actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
