Vickers 45AC
Designed by Dudley Dix
A 45 ft 5 in (13.85 m) aft cockpit performance cruiser by Dudley Dix, developed from the hull of his poop deck Vickers 45. It has a sleek pilothouse, a lower saloon running out under the side decks, a T-shaped cockpit and a triple spreader cutter rig of 1,076 sq ft, 2 m taller than the sister's. It can be built cold molded, with strip cedar under three veneer layers, in Airex cored fiberglass, or in radius chine steel to ABS scantlings.
Cutting files for steel and aluminum are available for this version for a builder who can weld. The wood version asks for an experienced amateur. Expect 8,000 to 12,000 hours as a rule of thumb. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Vickers 45AC actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
