Budget Houseboat
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Budget Houseboat is Hal Kelly's trailerable houseboat, written up as the highlight of a magazine's annual boating issue. She is 20 ft long with a 9 ft beam, and the article describes her as a camper that goes on water, comfortable for two and able to take a family of four on a longer trip.
The photographs show a boxy hull with a raised flying bridge, roof sun deck, ladder, aft cockpit and outboard. At nine pages the scan is one of the longer plans in the archive's houseboat section. The first page gives the dimensions and intent; the construction details follow in the later pages.
What building a Budget Houseboat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
