Pontoon Boat Kit
Designed by U-Fab Boats
U-Fab Boats, in Smiths Falls, Ontario, sells pontoon boat kits rather than plans: the builder receives welded aluminum pontoons and the framing to bolt a deck platform on top. A standard kit has two pontoons of 5052 H32 marine alloy with side and bottom keels, front deflectors, full length risers and welded baffles making sealed chambers at least every 5 ft, plus extruded aluminum cross members, corners, a motor support for a 20 in transom, 3 in perimeter edging, a towing bar, hardware and an assembly booklet.
Sizes cover a wide range. The company's chart lists medium kits from 8 to 14 ft wide and 24 to 40 ft long on 28 to 36 in pontoons, and large kits up to 26 ft wide and 73 ft long on tubes as big as 60 in, with a third or fourth pontoon optional. Uses run from party and fishing boats to work, tour and houseboat platforms, and the kit can be certified to Transport Canada standards if required.
What building a Pontoon Boat Kit actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
