Model boat kit
HM Cutter Sherbourne
Kit by Caldercraft
Sherbourne was a Customs revenue cutter designed by Sir Thomas Slade and launched in 1763, used to chase smugglers until she was sold in 1784. Cutters of her type carried a large gaff mainsail on a long boom and a running bowsprit, giving them the speed to run down smuggling craft along the south coast.
The 1:64 kit has a double planked hull on bulkheads with CNC cut walnut parts and hemp rigging. The model is 500 mm long, and Caldercraft presents it as an introduction to plank on bulkhead modelling.
