First 22
Built by Beneteau
A 22 ft 10 in fractional sloop designed by Jean-Marie Finot, built from 1978 to 1983. She carries 8 ft 2 in beam, 5 ft 7 in draft and 2,425 lb displacement. Hull form is keel and centerboard. About 763 were built.
Narrow and short enough to trailer behind an ordinary vehicle without a permit, which is most of the appeal of a boat this size. Beneteau are a French yard dating back to 1884 and one of the two largest sailboat builders in the world. The First line is the performance side and the Oceanis line the cruising side. The figures below come from owners who logged work on this boat here.
What building a First 22 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
