Guardian
Built by Boston Whaler
The commercial and government version, sold to agencies, harbor patrols, rescue services and navies rather than to the public. Bare deck, rugged fitout, often a collar or tube around the sheer. Ex-service hulls turn up secondhand and make hard-wearing workboats.
Every Whaler is built the same way, with foam injected between an inner and an outer fiberglass skin so the hull is structural and buoyant at once. That is why a swamped one floats, and it is also the thing to check on an older boat: foam that has taken on water adds hundreds of pounds and does not dry out, so weigh the hull rather than trusting the look of it.
What building a Guardian actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
