13 Sport
Built by Boston Whaler
The boat the whole company was built on: a 13 ft cathedral-hulled runabout launched in 1958 by Dick Fisher, with the hull form drawn with Ray Hunt. Fisher proved the point by sawing one in half on film and driving both halves away, which is still the advertisement everyone remembers.
That trick works because the hull is foam injected between two fiberglass skins, and that is also the thing to check. Water finds its way in through fastening holes and the rubrail, saturates the foam and never leaves, so a wet 13 can weigh half as much again as a dry one. Weigh it, do not just look at it. Transom rot around the motor bolts is the other standard job, and both are well documented by a large and obsessive owner community.
What building a 13 Sport actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
