Production model

Precision 18

Built by Precision

A 17 ft 5 in fractional sloop designed by Jim Taylor, built from 1984 to 2019. She carries 7 ft 5 in beam, 4 ft 3 in draft and 1,100 lb displacement. Hull form is keel and centerboard. About 500 were built.

Narrow and short enough to trailer behind an ordinary vehicle without a permit, which is most of the appeal of a boat this size. Precision Boat Works build in Palmetto, Florida, making trailerable daysailers and small cruisers with a reputation for sailing better than their price suggests. The figures below come from owners who logged work on this boat here.
