Capri 18
Built by Catalina Yachts
A 18 ft fractional sloop designed by Frank Butler/Gerry Douglas, built from 1985. She carries 7 ft 7 in beam, 2 ft 4 in draft and 1,500 lb displacement. Hull form is wing keel.
Narrow and short enough to trailer behind an ordinary vehicle without a permit, which is most of the appeal of a boat this size. Catalina have built in California and Florida since 1969 and are the largest American sailboat builder. Their boats are made in big numbers to a sensible price, which means parts, sails and owner knowledge are all easy to find. The figures below come from owners who logged work on this boat here.
What building a Capri 18 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
