Sand Dollar

An 11 ft flat-bottomed skiff with lapstrake sides by Arch Davis, designed for first-time builders including those with no woodworking experience. Beam is 3 ft 10 1/2 in and weight 95 to 120 lb. She rows, motors and sails under a gunter rig of 55 sq ft or a lug or sprit rig of 49.
The marine plywood bottom and sides are glued and screwed to a simple framework, and the seats go in before the side planking. Three sheets of 6 mm plywood, a plane, chisels, a handsaw, a drill and a jigsaw cover it. The designer says some finish in six weeks of spare time and others need three or four months.
