A 23 ft trailerable fast cruiser by Jacques Mertens for Bateau, the successor to his Serpentaire 22, described as winner of the first Mini Transat. It is a coastal and offshore boat with four berths. Beam is 8 ft 1 in, draft 2 ft board up and 4 ft 8 in down, ballast 1,100 lb, displacement 3,750 lb and sail area 295 sq ft.
The stitch and glue composite hull can be built upside down on a jig or right way up in a basket mold, which the designer finds easier. The designer says it asks for no more skill than a small skiff and gives 500 hours as the average for a complete boat. Budget 500 to 900.
