Spray 22
Designed by Bruce Roberts-Goodson
The smallest of the Bruce Roberts Sprays, 21 ft 4 in on deck and 24 ft overall, with a 7 ft 10 in beam, 2 ft 6 in draft and a trailerable weight of about 2,219 lb. The designer pitches her as an ideal first build that can be finished in one season and sailed the next, and he counts several hundred completed. One was built at his Marine Park in Australia and tested hard, with the results written up in his book on the Spray.
In wood she is a multi-chine hull planked in sheet plywood and epoxy; the same lines are drawn for steel and aluminium, and a round bilge fibreglass version in C-Flex or foam. The plans include trailer drawings, lofted full size frame patterns and three rigs: the original gaff, a Bermudan sloop and a junk rig.
What building a Spray 22 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
