Curlew 20
Designed by Sam Devlin
An open outboard fishing boat by Sam Devlin measuring 20 ft 1 in on deck, narrow at 6 ft 3 in in the manner of the pangas of Mexico and the Caribbean. First drawn for Florida waters, she has a casting deck forward for working the bonefish flats, a centre console, and draws 8.5 in with the motor up. She weighs about 1,600 lb and takes up to 90 hp, though Devlin says she needs far less to run economically.
A simple stitch and glue hull that the builder can fit out to suit. Suitable for a confident first-timer with space for a 20 ft boat. Budget 350 to 600 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Curlew 20 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
