Kingfisher 30
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 30 ft 2 in (length on deck) semi-displacement fishing boat and cruiser by Sam Devlin, built stitch and glue. It was drawn as a small salmon troller to fish alongside an Alaskan power scow. It carries twin 18 ft trolling poles that can also set paravanes and has a head entered from the deck for privacy. Beam is 10 ft 1 in, draft 38 in and displacement 10,700 lb, with a 110 to 160 hp inboard diesel.
It is available as study plans and as a custom build from the Devlin shop, so construction drawings must be arranged with the designer. Experience is assumed. As a rule of thumb, expect 4,000 to 6,000 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
What building a Kingfisher 30 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
