Oysta 30
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 30 ft double-ended motorsailer by Sam Devlin in the North Sea troller tradition. One was built at the Devlin shop many years ago and spent years in British Columbia with a documentary film maker and his family. The page tells how thieves flooded it at its mooring, yet it was found only half submerged, bailed out and rebuilt. The Oysta 30 later inspired the 29 ft Rover power cruisers, which share the double-ended hull.
Full plans were never completed and only downloadable study plans are sold, with no published dimensions beyond the nominal length. A boat like this is experienced-amateur territory. As a rule of thumb, expect 3,000 to 5,000 hours over several years. Real hours from logged builds are below.
What building a Oysta 30 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
