Ancilla II
Designed by Dudley Dix
A radius chine steel schooner by Dudley Dix, 18.3 m (60 ft) on deck and 21.8 m (71 ft 6 in) overall, drawn to replace a 1930s timber motor yacht while keeping her double-ended profile. Displacement is 36,000 kg with 9,500 kg of ballast, a long fin keel and skeg rudder, twin 75 hp engines in walk-in engine rooms, a deck saloon with inside steering and cabins suited to charter work. Deck and cabintops are teak-covered plywood.
This is a very large welded steel project with a traditional fit-out, realistic for a professional yard or a highly experienced builder with metalworking skills. As a rule of thumb expect well over 15,000 hours. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Ancilla II actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
