Cape Deseada 36TC

An 11.0 m (36 ft 1 in) on deck classic cruiser by Dudley Dix, the largest of the lapstrake plywood family descended from the Cape Cutter 19. It grew out of two requests for a bigger Cape Charles 32 and swaps the flush deck for a trunk cabin with side decks, plus a sunken foredeck with windlass. Displacement is 6,600 kg with 2,200 kg of ballast, draft 1.26 m, and the Marconi rig sets 900 sq ft. A gaff rig is promised but not yet drawn.
The structure is interlocking plywood bulkheads and backbone with stringers at every chine, which Dix says a handyman of reasonable ability can build. Expect 5,000 to 7,000 hours as a rule of thumb. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
