Designed by Dudley Dix
An 11.7 m (38 ft 5 in) radius chine steel cruising sloop by Dudley Dix with a conventional trunk cabin. It was commissioned to get away from the boxy look of many steel boats while staying easy to build, so the styling is clean and free of gimmicks. Displacement is 10,000 kg with 2,800 kg of ballast, sail area 721 sq ft, and keels draw 1.5 or 1.75 m. The engine sits centrally for access and better weight distribution.
Radius chine gives a round bilge look with little more work than hard chine plating, but the builder needs welding skills and room to handle plate. Dix gives no build time; expect 5,000 to 8,000 hours as a rule of thumb. Real hours from logged builds are below.
