Toy Whitehall
Designed by Platt Monfort
Designed as a first boat for a young builder, the Toy Whitehall is almost a cradle boat in size. Monfort pictures a ten year old rowing it all over a lake and towing it home behind a bicycle on improvised wheels, and calls it a challenging project for a keen youngster.
It is tender for an adult climbing in and out, but once seated on the bottom it feels reasonably seaworthy in a protected harbor with a 180 lb person aboard. No length is listed on the plan page. The build uses the same light wooden frame, Kevlar cross bracing and heat shrink polyester skin as the larger Geodesic Airolite boats, so the skills carry straight over if the young builder moves up.
What building a Toy Whitehall actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
