Junior Dinghy
Designed by Grandpa's Archive
Junior is a short yacht-dinghy type described as rowing easily despite its length, carrying three or even four adults, taking a small outboard and able to sail with a simple rig. Its photographs show a roomy, beamy hull that one person can carry, and the article recommends it as a car-top boat for fishing or hunting.
It is built over a form with mould frames of 1 x 4 lumber, a 3/8 in plywood transom framed in 3/4 in stock, and full-size patterns for the stem and three frames. The keel is fitted to the transom and stem with screws before planking. Length is not stated on the first page of the scan.
What building a Junior Dinghy actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
