Swaggie

Swaggie is Australian slang for a tramp carrying his bedroll, and she was drawn for a client on the southern coast of Australia who wanted to cruise a very small boat in roaring forties territory, where there are long stretches with no shelter and the best storm tactic is to get well offshore, shut the hatch and get into the bunk. The premise is that she is sailed from inside: the junk rig hoists, reefs and sheets from the main hatch, which means she does not need a working cockpit, and at under 18 ft that is the only way to have a cabin worth having.
A miniature long-range cruiser of 18 ft 2 in with the accommodation of a much bigger boat: 5 ft 6 in of headroom, 6 ft 6 in under the dome, and a load range from 1200 kg bare to 1900 kg safely full. Beamy at 7 ft 10 in, drawing 2 ft 8 in, and carrying 247 sq ft.
