16 ft Flat Bottom 472
Designed by Response Marine
Response Marine had been designing welded aluminum boats for 27 years before they drew anything this simple. In 2014 their longtime customer Sound Marine asked for a 16 ft flat-bottom skiff, then an 18 and a 20, and the family has since been built by hobby and professional builders at 14, 16, 17, 18 and 20 ft. This is the 16 ft 1 in by 6 ft original.
The hull uses 0.190 in plate with external bottom channels and has no interior deck, so it does not self-bail at rest. Bare weight is about 671 lb and around 852 lb rigged with a 30 hp tiller. Most have been tiller-steered, but consoles, a self-bailing deck or even a small forward cuddy can be drawn in. The kit supplies NC cutting files for one hull with drawings and parts and stock lists, and the designers call it their most straightforward build.

Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
