Model boat kit
Chaperon Sternwheel Steamer
Kit by Model Shipways
Chaperon was a sternwheel steam packet built in 1884 that carried freight and later ran summer excursions on Kentucky's Green River toward Mammoth Cave. She was the first boat of her kind through the Green River Lock and Dam 6 in 1906 and burned on the Tallahatchie River in 1922.
The 1:48 kit builds the hull, superstructure and paddlewheel from laser-cut basswood and limewood, with a photo-etched brass sheet for the ornamental work.
What building a Chaperon Sternwheel Steamer actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
