Model boat kit
Bevin's Skiff Scale Model
Kit by Chesapeake Light Craft
Bevin's Skiff is an 11 foot 8 inch skiff designed in 1997 by Joe Youcha and his team at the Alexandria Seaport Foundation for teaching boatbuilding. Full size ones have been built in schools, garages and family boatbuilding events across almost every US state and in at least ten countries.
Chesapeake Light Craft cuts this one eighth scale kit from marine okoume plywood and clear cypress, and the model goes together like the real skiff: a midships frame, side panels bent around it, chine logs, the bottom, then seats. It uses ordinary wood glue, and the instructions include lessons for teaching math through the build.
What building a Bevin's Skiff Scale Model actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
