MacGregor 26X
Built by MacGregor
A 25 ft 10 in fractional sloop designed by Roger Macgregor, built from 1995 to 2003. She carries 7 ft 10 in beam, 5 ft 6 in draft and 3,750 lb displacement. Hull form is centerboard (trunk). About 5,000 were built.
The water-ballasted powersailer: ballast pumped out for towing, and enough outboard power to plane, which no other sailboat of her size will do. MacGregor built light, cheap, trailerable sailboats in California for forty years, and sold more trailerable sailboats than anyone. Build quality is modest and the value for money was extraordinary. The figures below come from owners who logged work on this boat here.
What building a MacGregor 26X actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
