Catboat
Designed by Andrew Walters
This 12 ft by 6 ft catboat came out of a Nautical Quarterly article a friend lent Andrew Walters in the winter of 2012. He designed her to build that summer, strip planked over frames and sheathed in glass and epoxy, but house work got in the way and the boat was never started.
What is offered is therefore line drawings only, aimed at an experienced builder who will work out the interior, centreboard, rudder and rig for themselves. The hull is sliced every 6 in along its length and every 2 in in the other two directions, printed to scale on a 2 in grid and supplied as an AutoCAD file. A hard chine version for plywood is included too, with flattened panels, and because the design lives as a 3D model the designer can rescale it for a small extra charge.
What building a Catboat actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.

If you are building one, yours becomes the reference: the page the next person building this boat finds when they search for it. One photo and one line is a valid first entry.
