Bartender 26 Sport Fishing
Designed by George Calkins
The first of the two 26 ft Bartenders, and the one with the bigger cockpit. It keeps the family's double-ended dory hull with its flared sides and planing vee bottom, and adds a cabin with space for cruising accommodation in whatever arrangement the builder likes, while staying light enough to trailer.
Power is meant to be a high-speed gasoline engine of roughly 180 to 280 hp or a lightweight diesel of 140 to 260 hp. The builders' own figures give a sense of how economical the hull is: a 26 ft sportfishing Bartender with a 230 hp Steyr turbo diesel was reported at 3.5 gallons an hour at 17 knots. Construction follows the other Bartenders, plywood planking over sawn frames, and this model is sold as plans only, so expect to loft the lines yourself. It suits someone who fishes offshore from a bar harbour and wants a boat with a reputation for coming home.
What building a Bartender 26 Sport Fishing actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
