Outer Banks 26

Designed by Graham Byrnes

A 26 ft outboard cruiser by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, the big sister of the Outer Banks 20 and 24. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, deadrise 12 degrees, empty weight about 3,000 lb, fuel 50 to 80 gallons and power 90 to 150 hp. Hull one, launched in 2019, with 90 hp cruised most economically at 16 to 18 knots, reaching 25.6 knots flat out. An optional bracket takes overall length to about 32 ft.

Plans come with full-size mylar templates, and B&B offers a CNC jig kit. Its smaller sisters are plywood boats set up over a jig, which B&B does not class as introductory projects. Expect 2,500 to 4,500 hours as a rough guide. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
