Fast Launch 26

Designed by Jacques Mertens

A 26 ft semi-displacement launch by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, a commuter-style day boat with an inboard diesel of 30 to 80 hp. The flat-bottomed hull has a fine entry, flared topsides and a skeg protecting the propeller, and runs at up to 18 mph with 50 hp. A short cabin has a vee berth, galley counter and head, and the cockpit is almost 13 ft long. Beam is 8 ft, trailer weight about 1,800 lb.

Plywood cored composite hull with a foam sandwich superstructure recommended. The designer says anyone who has finished a small jig-built boat can take it on. The designer's figure is 120 hours for the hull and 300 to 500 for a finished boat. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
