Carolina Express 25

A 25 ft offshore express by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, on the same Carolina sportfishing hull as the Carolina Sportfish 25: flared bow with a fine entry, transom tumblehome and a skeg for tracking. Deadrise runs from 45 degrees at the cutwater to 17 at the transom. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, the stripped hull weighs about 1,900 lb, and power is up to 250 hp single or 400 hp twin.

Plywood cored epoxy and fiberglass composite, assembled stitch and glue style upside down on a jig; foam sandwich is the alternative. Not a first project, says the designer. The designer's figure is 120 hours for the hull and 300 to 500 for a finished boat. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
