Carolina Sportfish 25
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 25 ft offshore center console by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, the larger of the two Carolina Sportfish designs. The hull follows Carolina sportfishing practice: flared bow with a deep fine entry, tumblehome at the transom and a skeg, with deadrise from 45 degrees forward to 17 aft. Beam is 8 ft 6 in, the stripped hull weighs about 1,700 lb, and rated power is 250 hp single or 280 hp twin.
Epoxy, fiberglass and plywood composite built stitch and glue on a jig. The designer rules it out as a first project and asks for basic fiberglass experience. The designer's figure is 120 hours for the hull and 300 to 400 for a finished boat. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
