Corsair 11
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 10 ft 9 in sailing dinghy by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, a sturdy, fully decked little boat pitched as a first sailboat for one or two people. It carries a mainsail, jib and spinnaker on 55 sq ft of working sail. Beam is 4 ft 3.5 in and hull weight about 160 lb. The Corsair 13 is the larger sister.
Plywood cored epoxy composite, stitch and glue, using the sharpie assembly sequence the designer rates as the easiest there is and within reach of a first-time builder. The designer's figure is about 30 hours for hull, deck and seats plus 40 hours for foils and spars. Real hours from logged builds are below.
