A 10 ft 8 in cat-rigged car-topper from Glen-L Marine, multi-chine in quarter-inch plywood over temporary forms with no permanent frames, about 120 lb. The free-standing sock rig comes off in a minute, and it rows or takes a 3 hp outboard as a fishing boat or tender.

A little more fitting than a single-chine hull, but still a simple, speedy first project with full patterns and a fastening schedule. Allow 80 to 150 hours plus rig. Kits for fastenings, glass, sails, hardware and spar are sold. Real medians from build logs are below.
