Down East Cruiser 25
Designed by Jacques Mertens
A 24 ft 11.5 in pilothouse cruiser by Jacques Mertens of Bateau, a wider and 30 in longer Down East Cruiser 23. Plans are sold in two versions, long cockpit and long cabin. Both have 6 ft 2 in headroom in the pilothouse and two bunks forward. Beam is 8 ft 4 in, hull weight about 1,750 lb, fuel 84 gallons, power 90 to 200 hp.
Stitch and glue plywood shell glassed inside and out, built on a jig formed by the bulkheads and a few temporary molds; the cabin is foam sandwich or plywood. The designer's figure is 80 hours for the hull and 250 or more for a finished boat. The medians below come from builders who logged this boat here.
What building a Down East Cruiser 25 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
