Expedition Sailing Canoe

Designed by Graham Byrnes

A 17 ft 9 in sailing canoe by B&B Yacht Designs, created for the 1,200 mile WaterTribe Ultimate Florida Challenge, which Alan Stewart completed in it in 18 days 11 hours. The main hull is 26 in wide and about 60 lb, the rigged boat weighs 125 lb empty, beam over the amas is 11 ft 6 in, and the sail is 58 sq ft. The hull is 4 mm plywood with taped and glued seams under S-glass, and the amas are glassed foam.

B&B states that plans have not been completed, because the hull is being revised for more initial stability, so this is not yet a boat that can be ordered. A comparable build might take 250 to 400 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
