Lit'l Coot 18 Full Keel
Designed by Sam Devlin
A 17 ft 10.5 in pocket motorsailer by Sam Devlin, built stitch and glue on the same hull as the original bilge-keel Lit'l Coot. A fixed centerline keel drawing 2 ft 6 in lets it stand up to more weather and frees space in the cabin. Beam is 6 ft 11 in, displacement 2,300 lb, ballast 650 lb and sail area 160 sq ft. A 9.9 hp outboard sits on the centerline between twin rudders, and the boat trailers at 8 ft 4 in high.
Study plans, full construction plans and a CNC-cut hull kit are offered. With a ballast keel, pilothouse and rig, it suits a builder with some experience. As a rule of thumb, budget 1,000 to 1,800 hours. Measured medians from build logs appear below.
