Snipa no. 30
Designed by Bertil Andersson
The oldest of the Skåne snipor in the collection, built around 1880 by Peter Kristiansson in Trelleborg. By the time of the September 1980 survey her interior and rig had disappeared, leaving the hull to be recorded.
She is 5.395 m long and 1.86 m wide, noticeably fuller than the Kullabygden boats, which fits Andersson's account of how fishing with heavy gear offshore pushed builders towards fuller ends and more carrying capacity. The plans are three sheets at 1:10, construction, frames and lines. For someone interested in a nineteenth-century south-coast double-ender, she is the earliest example here.
What building a Snipa no. 30 actually takes
Medians from the build logs kept on this site, not the designer’s estimate. Nobody has logged this boat here yet, so they are empty until the first builder does.
Those medians firm up as more people log this boat.
