Ocracoke 24

Designed by Graham Byrnes

A 24 ft Carolina style sportfisherman by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, a larger but not simply scaled-up Ocracoke 20 with more freeboard and the same flared bow. Beam is 8 ft 4 in, deadrise 13 degrees and power 90 to 200 hp. It weighs 2,000 to 2,400 lb including a 150 hp motor. The hull is cold molded plywood built over a jig, most of which stays in the boat. Plans come with full-size mylar templates, and a study plan can be downloaded.

B&B says this is not an introductory stitch and glue boat and also suggests it for small commercial yards. An amateur should have some experience first. Expect 1,800 to 3,000 hours as a rough guide. Real hours from logged builds are below.
