A 24 ft pilothouse outboard cruiser for a couple by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, with lobster boat styling, 6 ft 3 in of headroom in a fully enclosed pilothouse, a small galley and an enclosed head. Beam is 8 ft 2 1/2 in, deadrise is 12 degrees, boat weight 1,800 to 1,900 lb and power 50 to 90 hp. B&B presents it as a weekend cruiser where the Outer Banks 20 is mainly a day boat.
The plywood hull goes together over a jig that becomes structure, with diagonal double-layer sides. B&B says it is not an introductory stitch and glue boat when built from plans. Expect 2,000 to 3,500 hours as a rough guide. Real hours from logged builds are below.
