A 26 ft trailerable cat ketch cruising sharpie by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, the larger sister of the Princess Sharpie 22 with the same vee-bottomed hull form. Beam is 8 ft, working sail 294 sq ft, boat weight 2,500 to 2,700 lb with 700 lb of ballast, and displacement 3,700 lb. Draft and ballast can be varied to suit thin creeks or more open water. The offset centerboard leaves the cabin open, with 5 ft of headroom and space for an enclosed head.
Hull construction is mostly straightforward stitch and glue, and B&B says it needs no special skills or tools, though basic woodworking and patience help. Expect 2,500 to 4,000 hours as a rough guide. Real hours from logged builds are below.
